Driving into 2025 - The future of Electric Vehicles in Indonesia

In 2019, President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo signed a presidential regulation (Pepres) No.55/2019 concerning the battery-based electric motor vehicle program for road transportation. The objective is that, by 2025, electric vehicles should make up at least 20 percent of total domestic vehicle sales, reducing the country's reliance on imported fossil fuels and enabling Indonesia to maximize its abundant nickel reserves.
