There are many wonderful traditions to mark Ramadhan in Indonesia. Hopefully, you will be able to enjoy this time with family, friends, and colleagues this year.
Even though we are still in the first quarter of 2022, we have seen many exciting highlights and activities as featured in the newsletter, and we are confident that this will continue well into the year.
In this issue, we will cover the important achievement of Switzerland being in the top 10 largest investors in Indonesia, the Young Professional Agreement coming into force, notable chamber activities, and other valuable updates from our members.

Young Professionals Exchange Agreement Signing |
| Indonesia and Switzerland officially signed the Agreement on the Exchange of Young Professionals (YP Agreement) at the Federal Palace, Bern, Switzerland, on Tuesday, 30 November 2021.
The Young Professionals Exchange enables 50 to 100 young nationals from Switzerland and Indonesia to work in respective countries for a limited period of time in their professional field. This will benefit both countries in improving work skills and increasing the availability of market access for Indonesian workers in Switzerland and vice versa.

Joint Economic and Trade Commission (JETC) |
| On 24 February, Switzerland and Indonesia held the 9th Joint Economic and Trade Commission (JETC) led by Ambassador N. Swajaya, Director General of America and Europe of Indonesia Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Fabienne Wassermann, Head of Bilateral Economic Relations Asia/Oceania of the SECO. SwissCham Chairman, Chris Bendl, participated as a delegate for Swiss private sectors representing the voice of SwissCham Indonesia members.
JETC is a regular bilateral consultation mechanism on the economy and trade that has been ongoing since 2010. The 9th Joint Meeting discussed bilateral economic relations, development cooperation, legal economic framework, including the implementation of Indonesia - EFTA CEPA, as well as opportunities for the Swiss private sector in Indonesia.

Winners from Indonesia - SwissCham Singapore DX Awards 2021 |
| Among other applicants from Indonesia, Speedwork and Project Child Indonesia have the honor to take home the prestigious Digital Transformation (DX) Award 2021 organised by SwissCham Singapore in collaboration with Deloitte.
They impressed the jury group with their pitch presentations — and it's been a pride journey for them to receive the DX award 2021:
1. Speedwork - Business Services category 2. Project Child Indonesia - Special recognition for NGO On 29th March, SwissCham Indonesia met with the two winners to congratulate them and physically presented the DX Award 2021 trophies on behalf of SwissCham Singapore. |

Supporting 1000 Days Fund for a Good Cause |
| In support of the Indonesian government’s national strategy to eradicate stunting, SwissCham has engaged 1000 Days Fund since August 2020, a non-profit organisation that provides healthcare in Indonesia’s rural areas.
To date, SwissCham has contributed over Rp. 200 million, presented on three separate occasions. The most recent and largest contribution amounting Rp. 130 million, was presented during a golf fundraising event with more than 100 golfers in attendance.

Dialogue Forum and MoU Signing with The Ministry of Investment/BKPM |

On March 10, SwissCham Indonesia and Indonesia’s Ministry of Investment/Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM) signed a three-year Memorandum of Agreement (MoU) to strengthen the investment and business cooperation between Indonesia and Switzerland. The collaboration aims to support global economic recovery and contributes to the Indonesian government’s efforts in advancing economic growth by improving the mutually beneficial investment climate between the Government of Indonesia and partners, one of which through encouraging discussions related to investment policies, the flow of Foreign Direct Investment (FDI), and knowledge transfer.
Following the MoU Signing Ceremony, we hosted a Panel Discussion on the theme “Strengthening Economic Resilience: A Collaborative Framework to Support Ease of Doing Business, Sustainable Innovation, and Investment” with notable panelists from SwissCham members; Novartis, Nestle, Ministry of Investment/BKPM, KADIN, and HPP a member of Baker and Mckenzie International. |

First Batch of SwissCham TVET Internship: Endress+Hauser Interns Welcoming Ceremony |
| On 1st of March, SwissCham Indonesia and Swisscontact - Skills for Competitiveness Program (S4C) welcomed 2 interns (Fery Andika from Metal Industry Polytechnic of Morowali and Irfandy from Bantaeng Manufacturing Industry) who are part of SwissCham TVET Internship at Endress+Hauser Indonesia.
Aimed to improve the quality and organization of internships and to ensure that they are effective and beneficial to all stakeholders involved.

| On March 23rd SwissCham’s Chairman and secretariat team welcomed the Director of Don Bosco, Ephrem Santos at SwissCham office in MCC Tower discussing how to best contribute and participate actively in the chamber while also networking with other members.
Balai Latihan Kerja - BLK Don Bosco is a Non-Formal Skills Training Center (TVET) managed by the Salesians of Don Bosco. It is open to the public and located in two places: Tangerang and Sumba Island. It offers standard and custom-made courses in various competencies. It is a member of Don Bosco Tech ASEAN, a network of 36 Don Bosco TVET Centers spread out in 8 ASEAN Countries.

Roche Indonesia Expands The ECHO Telemonitoring to Pediatric Community |
| Roche Indonesia together with the Indonesia Ministry of Health, and the National Cancer Center (Dharmais Cancer Hospital) are expanding the scope of the Extension for Community Health Outcomes (ECHO) telementoring training to the Indonesian pediatric community. This aims to improve access and quality of pediatric cancer management in Indonesia and to support the acceleration of the development of a national cancer network. Project ECHO, which has been launched since December 16, 2020, is planned to reach 110 hospitals by 2024.

Indesso Receiving The Indonesian Green Label Gold Certification from the GPCI |
| Indesso is moving forward to eco-friendly ways to produce vanillin, proven by receiving the Indonesian Green Label Gold Certification from the Green Product Council Indonesia for 2 vanillin products (958 and 9581). The vanillin ex-eugenol is produced from clove oil, a flavoring ingredient in the food industry that is environmentally safe.

MSC Mediterranean Shipping Company Indonesia Received Double Awards from IPCTPK |
| MSC Mediterranean Shipping Company Indonesia was awarded by IPCTPK as the Top Shipping Line Ocean Going and the Biggest Vessel in History by carrying the most empty containers for Indonesia. MV MSC Tianshin was docked at Terminal 3 IPC Container Terminal and planned that nearly 2,000 40-foot empty containers will be unloaded from the ship to help overcome the container shortage crisis in increasing Indonesia logistics productivity.

Sygenta Signed Several Agreements with The Regional Government of Indonesia |
| On February 22, Syngenta participated in the signing of the Regional Government Cooperation Agreement with Third Parties (KSDPK) for Konawe Selatan Regency, Southeast Sulawesi. This agreement is part of an inter-regional cooperation program in Southeast Sulawesi, supported by the Government of Canada through the NSLIC/NSLRED (National Support for Local Investment Climates/National Support for Enhancing Local and Regional Economic Development) initiative that aims at creating equitable resilient local socio-economic development. In this collaboration, Syngenta supports the development of chili commodities for a prominent local farmer group, LM3 Al Irsyad, which consists of approximately 100 farmers.

| There is no requirement of showing vaccines certificate, COVID-19 negative test result or quarantine at present for entering Switzerland. Travelers also do not have to fill out an entry (passenger locator) form.
Note that the airline or long-distance bus company can nevertheless demand a test on boarding. For this reason travelers should find out directly from the airline or long-distance bus company what certain rules apply.
If there are any countries or areas subsequently listed with a variant virus of concern, the people from that origin must observe the health-related measures at the border.

| Indonesia is now open to international tourists. Foreign travelers must show a negative RT-PCR test result in the country or region of origin in which samples were taken within a maximum period of 2 x 24 hours before the departure time.
All international travelers (Indonesian citizen and Foreign citizen) are required to quarantine with the following categories: - Quarantine period 5 x 24 hours for those who have not been vaccinated or have received the first dose of vaccination.
- Quarantine period for minors under 18 years or required exceptional protection is followed by the provisions of the parents/legal guardians/travel companions.

| In conjunction with the Carbon Tax provision in Law on Harmonized Taxation (UU HPP) coming into effect on 1 April 2022, SwissCham Indonesia’s Fiscal, Customs, and Excise Sectoral Group organized a Indonesia Carbon Tax webinar on 28 March 2022, attended by over 100 participants. Ralph Van Doorn from World Bank, Aldilla Suwana and Fransiscus Rodyanto from SSEK Law Firm provided comprehensive and interesting insights both on the global and Indonesia context in order to prepare for the future implementation of the carbon tax. |

| On 24 February, SwissCham Indonesia’s Sustainability and Innovation Sectoral Group presented a webinar on “Driving into 2025: The Future of Electric Vehicles EVs) in Indonesia” moderated by Iwan Santoso from Harian Kompas. Together with the prominent speakers, Herlangga Arisanto, a Technical Promotion and Design Manager of ABB, our member, and Yedi Sondy, a Director & CEO of WM Motor Asia Pacific — our member and colleagues explored and envisioned the impact of the EV industry on companies, environment, and related change in regulations.
